Your handout and the Feldman's Method of your master photographer will be used to create a rubric for your next roll of film. For this film you will borrow a theme, technique, subject matter or style from your Master in order to direct your shooting. This could be the idea of portraiture, the theme of family, a zoomed-in abstract style, or an exploration of great depth of field and landscape. Below is an example rubric I filled out for my Master, Richard Barnes. Read carefully how I filled out each section, your research should inform how you fill it out. Complete the rubric (you can download it below) along with 2 digital photos that will serve as digital thumbnails uploaded to Flickr and added to the class group pool (make sure to title them with your master's name, so Master: Richard Barnes).
Join the Field Trip Group on Flickr to add photos to HERE.
Here is an example of a Feldman's Method done for Richard Barnes. Make sure to choose a photo that interests you and represents work by your Master that you want to explore in your own roll. Your photographer has a lot of work, choose carefully. You can also download a template below for the Feldman's IF YOU WANT (you don't have to), remember to leave the facing page blank in your sketchbook to compare LATER to your photo.
Make sure to bring images and research to class in order to work on your handout and Feldman's Method. You can also be collecting images to put in your PowerPoint presentation. Make sure you choose large, high quality images that you are certain belong to the artist. Remember to keep track of your sources.
